Well the weather was kind to us and the community turned up in their droves to what many people are saying was the best Carbrooke fete ever! Given that a makeshift committee was pulled together just a few weeks ago the size and variety of the day was remarkable. There were vintage tractors, fire eaters, craft stalls, live music, a BBQ along with the usual array of community fun stalls – including for the first time in many years a Village stocks! I wrote in an earlier post about the real sense of community and commitment behind the event from all the village organisations and the support continued all the way through, with villagers turning up to help unprompted with putting up and taking down marquees, donating prizes and helping out where ever needed. Even at the 11th hour a villager who had not been able to attend walked up to me and thrust a £20 note in my hand as a donation. Fantastic stuff!! Below is a quick montage put togther to give you a flavour of the day. I’ll try to post more pictures soon.
In the meantime once again a huge thanks to everyone who contributed to making our village fete a huge success!
