Minutes for Meeting Held 18th July 2018 7pm in the Church.
Present: Angela Weatherill, David Saunders, Yvonne Jenner, Janice, Angela & Trevor Birkby, Christina Coppen, Jim Lorne, Clare Talbot, ? & ?.
Apologies Tom, Ros & Alex
Jim Lorne began by giving a Fete Report. It had been an excellent & enjoyable event raising £2711 for local organisations, but also a learning curve! Fliers & advertising had proved effective.
Perhaps we could open a separate fete bank account within the Heritage Group account to keep monies separate, as it would be required if we requested future grants This was agreed. It would be better in future to sell the raffle tickets for the whole event rather than by the separate groups. (600 books sold which is about the limit).
Bus provided 5 trips (20 people) cost £250 which was considered rather a waste of money
Date for next year’s fete 29th June.
Bazaar 15th December, we will have a ‘sub’ Events group to discuss Village events – next meeting 24th September 7pm in the Church.
Thanks expressed to Jim Lorne.
Last Minutes approved.
Information Boards: We plan to unveil on August Bank Holiday 27th Monday. first one at Aerolite 3pm, then onto the Green finishing in the Church for cake & tea /Tom to liase with the printers, Angela Birkby will organise tea & cake.
3 Boards – one on the Aerolite path (near Aerolite), One at the entrance to the Millenium Green, and one to be presented to the Blenheim Grange Residents Committee to be placed on their planned community centre.
School Log Books – Yvonne has transcribed School Log during ww2 – it is fascinating, and we hope to produce a book. There is so much information, that we can incorporate – War boats that the children were involved with, history of local – national education, knitting. Carbrooke was the first school in the area to have a school canteen – extra research would be required. Perhaps we could write to Jarrolds as they provided the school stationery.
David to ask Wayland Heritage Group if there is any funding available for this project.
Need to be careful not to include sensitive personal information. An American film was made at the time, Lakenheath USAF Base may be interested in funding.
We offer our thanks to Yvonne.
Nothing to report on the moment in time project.
Toms Talk - History of Agriculture, In the Church October 19th 7pm with tea & cake.
Village Hall to be shut for renovation 8 weeks (from 3rd September).
Remembrance Sunday 11th November (100th Anniversary of end of hostilities) Yvonne has a knitting & crochet pattern for poppies, if we can encourage people to produce them, we would decorate the church tower with knitted poppies for the event.
John Coppen (Tony’s brother) Will give a talk on the work of the Commonwealth Graves Commision 23rd November at 7pm in the Village Hall (Bar )
Church Quiz 9th November Village Hall 7pm)
Harvest Bring & Share Lunch in the Church 7th October following Harvest Festival.
We need to create a flier of events for the Parish.
The Parish Council have donated a copper Beech for the Millenium Green in memory of Robert Buscall.
